Hi everyone, It has been quite awhile since my last update, but there hasn't been much going on until now. I've been in limbo-land since returning from Korea and I've had to wait patiently to allow my treatments to absorb and work throughout my body. Well, after getting all my scans done over the past couple weeks, I have some great news to share! Just as Dr. Moon's test results predicted, there is NO cancer left in my body except for the sternum! But even in the sternum, it has gone from "extreme activity" to "moderate activity which means that there has been significant tumor reduction!! WeeeeHOOOO!
Also, there had been some conflicting data regarding my Her2Neu gene status. Dr. Moon's tests showed that I was Her2Neu positive and would greatly benefit from a targeted treatment called Herceptin. (common for breast cancer) However, the doctors at Kaiser have insisted that I am Her2Neu negative, and refused to give me Herceptin. This has been the biggest challenge for us over the past couple months. Communication has been extremely difficult, but Dr. Moon finally convinced my docs at Kaiser to run another test called FISH. (Fluorescence In Situ Hybridization) This test is still not as accurate or advanced as Moon's test, but worth a try. The results for this ended up being inconclusive but showed that I was on the higher end of this grey area and technically could be given Herceptin. This was the missing ingredient in Dr. Moon's regimen, therefore another victory for team Moon!
I called Dr. Moon in Korea right away and woke him up..(it was 6AM Korea time..whoops) He sounded very pleased and congratulated me. After I rambled on with excitement, he politely reminded me that it was 6 in the morning for him...ha ha! Then he congratulated me again and told me I will soon be CURED!
So all in all, this was a great day! I am so relieved and can now rest easy tonight. No news yet of when I will receive more stem cell therapy from Dr. Moon, but he will be moving to the U.S. soon and opening up clinic in the Bahamas...not too shabby for follow-up treatment! Thank you once again for all your prayers and continued support. I will update again soon, but for now its time to celebrate.....finally!!
Love and Gratitude,
T
