updates and changes

On August 3rd, Trycia was hospitalized because she woke up in the morning and could not walk. Please see below for details since then.

I wanted to get back to everyone as I know you are all worried about Trycia. I just heard from her and she will now be in the hospital for a few days as opposed to just overnight. She has had bloodwork done, steroid injection to release the nerves from the tumors pressing (not sure what they were pressing on yet) and a CT scan. She is doing a lot of tests and planning in the hospital. She is getting morphine soon for the intense pain. She did say that there is no spinal compression from the tumors but there are several large tumors in her body at this time. Some of you have asked about the bone infusion and what it consists of. Our friend Tom Bry did some research on it and here is what he came up with:"There appear to be a couple of different medicines that they infuse the bones with, and only Trych and her doctors can know for sure what her specific therapy is. What I've found is that bone metastases wear away portions of bone‚ leaving small holes. This wearing away process causes eroded bone to appear as circular‚ punched out areas which leaves bones weak and fragile. Basically the bone infusion is a treatment for patients with breast cancer, lung cancer, prostate cancer, and other solid tumors that have spread to the bones. It slows the bone destroying activity of the metastases and fights abnormal (I'm guessing cancerous) cells. So, hopefully bone infusion therapy reduces or delays bone fractures and pressure on the spinal cord that results from bone damage from advanced breast cancer."I have received several humorous texts from her today so apparantly she is keeping her wits about her. Please dont take it personally if I havent called you back about this...I have been bombarded with phone calls and texts. I will update this site with ALL new information. If you want to give well-wishes to her go ahead and text her but please dont call her with questions. She doesnt know much more than this at this point. Many of you have asked how I am doing and I appreciate that more than you know. We have a group of friends who are family and we are all here for each other in times like these. Jodie and I are taking care of a lot of arrangements now (i.e. taking her food and clothing to the hospital) We are also planning another fundraiser soon so she has the funds to get the best treatment possible. At this time, please just pray and tell your friends' friends to pray as well. You guys are amazing!Erica

Hey friends,Just wanted to update you on the latest news. After the scans came back and were reviewed, it was the surgeon's recommendation that in order to stop the deterioration of various vertebrae due to tumor growth, and alleviate the instabillity of the spine, surgery will be necessary. Tentatively, surgery is scheduled for Thursday. This promises to ensure an active, pain-free lifestyle. Radiation will most likely follow. Rest assured that I'm being well taken care of, feel very comfortable with this decision, and am on a plethora of feel-good drugs...haha! Following surgery I'm expected to remain in the hospital 5 more days. Visitors are welcome...and so are your prayers. Lots of love,Trowsh
