May Flowers

Hi again,

In April, I went to see my oncologist for the first time since starting my new diet/lifestyle without meds. We went over my bloodwork together and she was really impressed at how great everything looked and how high my WBC and RBC's were. She was very curious at what I'd been doing for the past 6 months, I told her about the alkaline diet, the colonics, lymphatic massage, far-infared sauna treatments, etc. After taking it all in, she was surprisingly very supportive of it all! Prior to this, we were being very aggressive with my treatment which took alot out of me, so she understood why I would want to give my body a break. She did recommend that I at least think about going back on tamoxifen as the bare minimum. I thought about it (for half a second) and then moved on. :) She told me to keep doing what I was doing and see her again in 4 months. She said since I didn't have any new pain anywhere, it wasn't necessary to have scans done. If I did have any new pain, I should let her know and we could consider radiation in the area. Otherwise, I should see her again in 4 months for another checkup and possibly a petscan.

Pretty great news if you ask me! I mean, this supposedly is a very aggressive stage 4 cancer that I have....and somehow its no longer spreading, my blood counts are WAY up, I'm off all my medication, I have a great appetite, better energy and much better quality of life! You would think that other people in my situation would want to know what I'm doing to get these results, right?!

I have had so many people email and call me because they have a friend or loved one who is suffering from cancer and is running out of options. I give them all my contact info, my blog site, a few immediate suggestions, websites, resources, Korea info, etc....and I NEVER hear from them. I get discouraged because I want to help and I know I can! I think maybe they think it is such a drastic change in everything they've been doing, and because food is probably a great source of comfort for them, they don't want give any of it up. I also think they are overwhelmed with all the information they get from so many different people, that they just want to curl up in a ball and make it all go away. Sometimes death sounds easier. I get it...trust me, I do!

When I was first diagnosed, I heard alot about diet and holistic options, but I ignored all of it. I actually spoke with someone on the phone who gave me a list of things I needed to give up in order to heal. No meat, no dairy, no cooked oils, no sugar, no breads, no alcohol, no EVERYTHING! I just hung up the phone and cried. Its one thing for someone to tell you what you can no longer have, but ANOTHER thing to have someone coach you on what you CAN have and how you can slowly incorporate these lifestyle changes yourself. I'm not gonna lie, it takes alot of work and commitment on your part. You can't just take a magical pill, eat more veggies and do a colonic here and there and your cancer is gone. That doesn't cut it. It is a slow process and a 100% lifestyle change that you have to be conscious of every minute of the day. But, you will start to feel better and you will begin to see results. Also, it DOES become enjoyable once you get the hang of it! You just have to learn how and where to shop for organic foods, what foods to get, how to cook following easy recipes, learn where to get colonics, supplements, support and advice, learn how to juice, how to exercise more, how to meditate, how to connect with God, and how to connect with your body again. It may sound like alot, but it is very empowering and DOES work. Cancer is a dis-ease of the body, mind and spirit, and the goal is to get these things back in alignment.

There is a reason that cancer is in my life......it is a tool for my evolvement. It does not define me, but it empowers me. It will not defeat me, but it has taught me how to live. I will always view it as a gift and a reminder of how precious life is. I live in gratitude. And so it is, Amen.
